8U Tournament Rules

I would like to thank the ad hoc committee for the time spent revising the 8U tournament rules.  They were able to come to agreement and reduce two sets of rules (pink and purple) down to one set.  It is important that our youngest players have consistency in their their development and playing by the same rules at every tournament makes teaching much easier and learning less confusing.

These are the rules we WILL be using for all 8U tournament, there can be no changes or modifications.   We will be opening these up for discussion and possible tweaking at our October meeting.

Check them out HERE

Rule/Code Changes from 2013 ASA Annual Meeting – Youth

The annual ASA council meeting just concluded in Dallas, TX.  During this meeting over 150 rule and code changes were purposed, many were rejected, however some did pass that will have an immediate affect on youth fast pitch.  3 notable changes are listed below along with comments for the Central California JO Commissioner.

1) 14U A/B will now pitch from 43′ in championship play.  note: Leagues and tournaments will have the option to pitch from the distance they feel is best for their league/event.  The A/B Association Championships will use the 43′ pitching plate, what will happen with the “C” division will be determined at the Region 14 annual meeting in early December.

2) 14U A/B now have the option to wear metal cleats.  note: Leagues and tournaments will have the option to allow or not allow metal cleats (in 14U, 16U and 18U) depending on what they feel is best for their league/event.  The A/B Association Championships will allow metal cleats unless restricted by the facility, what will be allowed in the “C” division will be determined at the Region 14 annual meeting in early December.

3) 18U Gold teams that fail to qualify for the Gold National will be allowed to drop to the 18U “A” classification. note: How these teams will be given the opportunity to qualify for the “A” national events will be determined in the next few weeks.

Any questions regarding these 3 changes or questions on any other “rumors” from the ASA Council Meeting should be directed to Dave Forte.

Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament a SUCCESS!!!

We would like to thank all the teams which participated, all the fans that came to watch, and especially all those that made donations to this great cause.  We are still doing the books, but it looks like we will have distributed around $15,000 to breast cancer charities … Great Job!

Thank you very much and congratulations to all the winners.
